Basic Fire Fighting
The Basic Fire Fighting Course is also recommended to companies. As a one day course it is accredited by the Ministry of Labour. The outcome serves to recognise and act immediately during a fire emergency and evacuation. Candidates will complete a practical skill on how to handle a Fire Extinguisher. Candidates who complete the course receive a certificate for 2 years.
Our Basic Fire Fighting Course covers the following topics:
- What is Combustion
- Causes of Fire
- The Fire Tetrahedron
- Ways of heat transmission
- Fire spread through position
- Fire development (Introduction of the 5 stages)
- Products of combustion
- Methods of Fire Extinguishment
- Classes of fire (A,B,C,D&K)
- Fire Extinguisher symbols
- Types of fire extinguisher (Water, Dry Chemical, Carbon Dioxide, Foam)
- The use of a fire extinguisher (In detail discussion of the PASS system)
- The use of a hose reel in the applicable classes of fire
- How to alert the Emergency Services
- Introduction Building evacuation procedures and reaction
- Practical demonstration of the correct use of a fire extinguisher
